What is a carnie hunt? Is it a “most dangerous game” situation? Isn’t that illegal? Won’t people get hurt?
Let us assure you that SapientNitro’s Carnie Hunt, held a few weeks back during SXSW Interactive, wasn’t that kind of hunt. Instead, participants were told that three carnies had gone missing: Lobster Boy, The Reverend Sideshow and Frannie the Belly Dancer. Each day, a series of texts with cryptic clues were sent out, including a secret word. If contestants spotted one of the carnies, they were urged to approach them – gingerly – to say the secret word. That’s where SpyderLynk came in. The carnie would show a secret SnapTag, which contestants snapped and sent for a chance to win the grand prize of a MacBook Air.
